halloweenie.

i'm sitting in my kitchen waiting for trick-or-treaters and trying really, really hard not to eat any of the butterfingers in my pumpkin. i'm excited to say that we've already had three trick-or-treaters! three! that's three more than i've ever had in my whole life! {ben was shocked too, that's just what happens when you never live in a neighborhood} if i had a bucket list, handing out candy to trick-or-treaters would probably me on it. and crossed off of it.

on this most awesome day of dressing up you're probably wanting to see my costume. {no? i'm the only one who facebook stalks everyone around halloween to see their costumes? maybe so but i'm sharing anyways.}

charlie chaplin.
why charlie you ask?
1. six dollar hat at target.
2. i'd really been wanting to buy a blazer and this seemed like the perfect validation.

and actually, i'm loving this costume.
of course none of the kids at school knew who i was, but they thought it was just hysterical to see me with a mustache.

p.s. these pictures make me laugh. i was trying so hard no to smile because smiling makes my 'stache look kind of wonky.

happy halloween!

{i'm linking this fabulous outfit up @ the pleated poppy for wiww}

mountain boarding brother.

ben's brother, cameron, came to hang out this weekend. it was good brotherly bonding time, they did a lot of geeky things and lazed around the house a lot.

i did finally get them up and out for a bike ride on sunday. well, kind of a bike ride. more like a bike & mountain board ride. yes, a mountain board. i'd never heard of such a thing either. {here's the wiki explanation for mountain boarding, which is far better than any explanation i could give}

yeah, looks strange. comical even. i have to admit, if i wasn't a complete chicken i would have tried it. cameron made it look pretty fun.

here goes something.

i think sitting down and taking these pictures was enough {safe} fun for me.

p.s. if you live in the atlanta area, were you loving the weather this weekend or what? i have to give the weather a shout out because i do my fair share of complaining about it so often.

fall festival fun.

food. arts. live music. cool weather. people watching. funny dogs. = candler park fall festival.
and that is my kind of thing.
luckily i brought along the camera.

some brotherly love.

you know i love all that color.

funky drums.

yeah.

can't resist trying on animal hats.

live music akin to listening to a punk rock justin beiber. really, words cannot describe how entertaining.
{my bangs do not normally look like this. they're just doing their own thing here, whatever that is.}

dinner at fellinis just down the street. best. pizza. ever.

p.s. ben and i totally got engaged just across the street here.

saturdays really are the best.

meet laverne.

laverne is my dog. she's my dog but she lives with my parents because she's always lived there and because they have land and trees and other animals -- all the things that you don't have living in an apartment.

sometimes, she comes to stay with ben and i for a few days. we like to dog-sit when my parents are out of town.

laverne and ben have a special bond. i think the bond has something to do with neither of them being able to sit still for even a few minutes. i like these pictures because one of them is blurry in every picture.
it makes me laugh.

saturday is crafty day.

i don't know if this is allowed for crafty saturday, but i'm sharing a picture of someone else's craft.

my bff kayla is making these lovely yarn wreaths to raise money for her & her husband's vision trip next summer {which is a trip to help them decide where they want to serve in the mission field}. you know i like to support a good cause, but i probably would have bought one even if it wasn't a good cause. it's that cute and i'm a sucker for cute fall things.

isn't it lovely? it matches my decor perfectly and looks so nice on my door!
{i added "the kerrs" to it -- so i guess did spend a few minutes crafting.. yeah a whole three minutes or something}

that's all, just a little bragging on my friend.

bonjour! greetings from france!

it has been such a busy week at work! i wish i could write more about my job but it toes the line a little bit with confidentiality rules.

i am going to share with you a little bit about our "celebrating cultures" big event. basically, every classroom is a country - we decorate our rooms like that country, parents bring food from that country, we learn a few {okay just one} words from that country, and we dress like the country for our parade around the school. so much fun, my friends, so much fun!

for your viewing pleasure here is mrs. kerr the pre-k tour guide for france! oui oui!

i ate a lot of yummy french treats! i taught my children how to say "bonjour" {which was really pronounced "boh-jor"} and oh la la {which is only kind of a french word}.

we made berets for the kids out of paper plates, painted mustaches on the boys & taped stripes to their white shirts -- now that is what i wish i could share a picture of. so cute!

it was in fact, a fun friday in mrs. kerr's pre-k class.

a church-y post.

i am not a good listener in church. i'm being honest here so don't get all judge-y on me, sermons usually bore the heck out of me. i get a lot of doodling done. i try to make myself focus here and there and then feel guilty for not focusing and then just resume doodling. this is the truth my friends! {can i also tell you that i don't like the whole singing part of church either?}

okay, woah, too much. i see you whispering 'heathen' towards your computer screen.

you're probably wondering why i even go to church. the reader's digest answer for that would be that i know God wants me to be in church because even though i fall short at listening well and singing well, he's still doing some serious work in me. i know that to be true and that's why i drag myself out of bed on sunday mornings {but really there's no dragging, i'm kind of a morning person}.

with all of that said you should know that i absolutely love the new church ben and i have been going to since the move to atlanta. i especially enjoy the messages -- that's right, i've even been paying attention lately!

last sunday's message was so good i have to share it with you guys. if i say it's good, i mean it. is. good.

it was a message on repentance. yeah, repentance! i was so getting ready for a boring, completely unpractical attempt at being practical kind of sermon. i was so wrong, my friends, so wrong!

this sermon is pragmatic, logical, a little bit scientific and lays out some serious truths that i needed to hear. it was one of those where i couldn't wait to get in the car and discuss it with ben.
i bet you would like it too.

if you want to listen to it go here or download the podcast here.

that's all today, i just had to share.

first day of school pictures.

today's a big day in the kerr household.
today is officially ben's first day of classes!

ben conceded to posing for some first day of school pictures. you know i have to document these kinds of milestones! and i have to admit, my husband is pretty sweet and compliant and willing to do cheesy things like this to make me happy.

also, check out that travel mug. i insisted that he buy that manly, awesome, state-of-the-art travel mug for taking to classes and whatnot. that's right, supportive wife award goes to this girl here.

so here goes the start of three and a half years of grueling study about backbones and nervous systems and all other things that chiropractors know about.

like i said, today's a big day.

fall.

it finally feels like fall -- and i am soaking it all in! drinking a homemade pumpkin spice latte & eating an apple with peanut butter for breakfast. i am happy.

happy fall, friends!
