what i wore wednesday.

so, i've been slacking with my what i wore wednesdays. i skipped days and lost count. i just had a random assortment of mirror pictures on my camera card. so here's what i've got.

 this one is from our weekend in atlanta when ben was checking out life university. travel day.

 this is my job interview outfit from last friday, fingers crossed!

easter play extravaganza and dinner with ben's grandparents day.

easter outfit. yes, pants, sweater, and scarf -- the sunrise service is cold.

mft: the easter edition.

my favorite things this easter season?

1. reese's peanut butter eggs.
of course these are a favorite every year. highly anticipated. ben and i have discovered that these are the perfect mid-day snack, pre-breakfast snack (yes, indeed!), pre-dinner snack, riding in the car snack and a 'oops i just happened to put one of these in my purse' snack.

2. the sunrise easter service.
getting up at 5am isn't exactly my favorite, but everything else about the sunrise service is. it's pretty. it's simple, no instruments or big screens and it requires coffee, always a plus.

 ben and i went to see AD 33 the night before, which is basically this huge, theatrical passion production. there were dancing angels, sword fighting ninjas, acrobats on rope hanging from the sky, fire throwing, and etc. (i'm not exaggerating). needless to say, it wasn't my thing. or ben's thing. it did, however, spark good conversation and an appreciation of the simplicity of the sunrise service like never before.

because the resurrection makes all the difference.
simple as that.

a cure for the sunday night blues.

i had the sunday night blues this afternoon. you know the sunday night blues. the 'i have to go to work tomorrow and i have to wait five more days to have another weekend' blues.

what cures those sunday night blues you ask? a date night.

my husband is such a good sport, posing for all kinds of cheesy pictures without complaint.
{i did order some project life things, so now i'm even more adamant about taking pictures of everything}

i hope everyone had a great easter!

scrapbooking sell out, right here.

i love scrapbooking. i love looking at scrapbooks from a long time ago. i love having my pictures all together with colors and writing and cutesy things. i love it all.

but scrapbooking is really time consuming. raise your hand if all of your scrapbooks are up-to-date. i see your hand still in your lap.

for this reason, i think i'm about to sell out to an easier scrapbooking alternative. project life. {check it out}

i've been lazy-saturday-blog-browsing, and i read this post on sunny side up. i thought: that is so cute and practical. i would have time to make something like that.

see! isn't it cool?!

what do you think, should i sell out?
i can see it now, a whole project life book on mine and ben's first year of marriage..

just for kicks.

i've been a little bi-polar in deciding how i want my blog to look. i wanted less color and then more color and i think this is my happy medium.

this look is here to stay.

also, here's a picture of ben sliding down a stair rail. just for kicks.

i know it looks like he's posing, but he really is sliding! {he fell off about three inches later, but still.}

breakfast is my love language.

my husband is sweet.
he made me crepes for breakfast this morning. :)
i'm happy.

tomorrow is my last day off of the school year and i'm thinking it will be a pretty big day.

happy-haps

here's the 'happy-haps' (happenings) as ben would say.

1. got to see the family this weekend (& last weekend, whoa!). this is me & mom at the marietta fish market. delish!

2. ben & i are making big decisions as far as grad school (for him, not me). we're crossing our fingers that he gets in the school he wants to go to (i think he will). and if he does, big changes. we're both pretty nervous and really excited.

3. it's official -- six more weeks of school left! good: almost summer, fun preparation for pre-k graduation, super fun events like easter egg hunt & field day! not-so-goods: progress reports..uuuuggggggh, preparation for pre-k graduation (yes, this is fun and not fun), finishing everything up.

ruffles on my shirt how-to

{i'm going to share with you the guest post i did for rachel @ http://www.missrachelb.com/ last week! enjoy!}

this is my newest adventure in 'up-cycling' my clothes. i have an old striped gap t-shirt, that i have loved forever but it has always fit me funny. i also have a plain white, long sleeve tee that fits great but i spilled some coffee on it (top and center, just my luck!).

i had them in a bag to drop off at goodwill but i pulled them out because i thought there might be some possibilities still there. thus, the ruffle top was born!

and you, my friends, get to learn how to make your own!

step one: cut a piece from your fabric about 18 inches long & 1-2 inches wide. i used the sleeve of my shirt & just guesstimated the measurement.

step two: set your sewing machine on it’s longest stich setting. that’s a four on mine.

step three: run the strip of fabric through your sewing machine like so. try to keep your needle in the middle, but if you get off a little it’s no big deal. then, cut the threads.

step four: grab the thread and gently push the fabric down into a bunch (the top thread is the one that works for this part, not your bobbin thread). you’ll have to push & pull on both sides. i repeat, do this gently, or you’ll break your thread and have to start over… like i did..

step five: you should have a caterpillar looking bunch of fabric at this point. spend some time adjusting and untwisting to the get a cute ruffle.

step six: repeat steps 1-5 for the desired amount of ruffles (I did 3)

step seven: pin in place. use plenty of pins.

step eight: {at this point, i changed the foot on my sewing machine to the walking foot.} sew the ruffles into place on the t-shirt. try to sew on top of the thread that’s already there, but if you don’t it’s no big deal (i didn’t really). backstitch at the end of each ruffle.

step nine: cut threads and..

wear & enjoy!

thanks for reading & if you make your own ruffle top email me some pictures, please!

my favorites on monday.

i'm linking up with abby for my favorite things monday.

today, my favorite thing is my new candle. tomato blossom. it smells exactly like a tomato plant. have you ever smelled a tomato plant (not the actual tomato but the vine)? it's crisp and fresh and smells just like summer. and maybe i'm biased because it reminds me of home. my dad grows a lot of tomatoes. nonetheless, it's my new favorite candle.

speaking of home, ben and i visited my parents house this weekend. i had to go home to help plan my sister-in-law's baby shower (fun!!) and it was nice to spend time with my family (and the zoo).

i took a few pictures.

meet charlie, he's offering his hand to shake but he usually tips over when he does this.

a big bumble bee and my dad's turnip greens. which he promptly plowed down as soon as i finished taking pictures. make way for corn, tomatoes, squash, zucchini, basil, green beans and watermelon!

meet june, the girl goat.

my dog, laverne.

dad's baby strawberries.

ward, the boy goat.

the other goat, little buddy, was too shy for pictures and the ducks, well, they're too ugly for pictures.

how was your weekend?

{don't forget about the giveaway!}
